Like the city of its namesake, the Boston Terrier is deeply rooted in England
The first Boston Terrier was actually born in Liverpool and shipped to Boston. It was a cross between an English Bulldog and an English White Terrier, and its name was "Judge."
French Bulldog blood was thought to have been crossed in at some point. To possibly reduce its size. Even further, this has caused difficulty when delivering the big headed puppies. In the 1920's the breed made its way back to Europe, and by the 1950's it was the most popular pedigree in North America, It had come a long way from being known as "Bullet Head."
