Choose from a variety of dog collars to find the best one for you and your pup

Is it getting impossible to control your beloved pooch? Don’t worry! Get yourself a training dog collar. Be it for the purpose of training or just controlling pet habits, pet accessory sets are incomplete without dog collars. Though used primarily to keep a check on the activities of dogs, dog collars can also be very effective as training devices.

The different categories are:

  • Buckled collars: they are the most commonly available varieties, which do not tighten around your pup’s neck and help him feel relaxed. They come mainly in leather in a range of colors like pink, red, black, green etc.

  • Quick release or adjustable collars: these are mainly made of nylon with a plastic clasp that can help loosen the band according to necessity. They are made usually with one or two ply nylons. Because of their better strength retention ability, they are preferred by many pet lovers.

  • Reflector collars: they are ideal for that leisurely stroll along unlit streets. These bands are flashy and reflective so that the dog can be traced from a distance. They are a big help in preventing sudden road accidents for your pet.

  • Flat collars: They are very lightweight and can be worn easily.

Apart from these normal categories, some dog collars are created with the exclusive purpose of training in mind. Training collars are mainly:

  • Shock collars: They can be customized according to the owner’s choice. Some shock collars will emit shocks when the dog needs to bark, some when he needs to cross the yard and so on. They are the most effective training tools for corrective behavior.

  • Nylon or choker chains: these are specifically used for training purposes. As they are a kind of slip collar, it may seem a little inhumane for everyday use. The grip can be totally controlled by the owner and these dog collars come in metal, leather or braided nylon.

  • Harnesses: These are basically of two types, head halter and body halter. The former mainly targets the head of the dog as a guiding tool, while the latter restrains a dog’s body.

  • Pinch collars: as the name suggests, these dog collars have metal spikes in their inner rims to pinch the dog when a certain action has to be performed.

All dog collars come both in simple as well as fashionable designs. Depending on the purpose and taste, dog collars can be a great accessory for pets and pet lovers alike.
