It is time for everyone to begin using a dog harness for walking their little friends, instead of the standard dog collars
A dog harness should be the new preferred method for everyone to use when walking their dog. The collar is good for identification and personalization, but it is bordering on cruel, how it pulls your dog around by the throat. A harness guides your dog around with a snug embrace around the chest and hind quarters.
I am not saying collars are not good for anything, I believe every dog should have a collar for identification purposes. Even if your dog is kept inside 99% of the time, there is always that chance that they will got lost. A collar tells everyone that this dog belongs to a caring owner, especially if there is an identification tag attached to the collar.
A harness is simply a tool for guiding your dog around in comfort. When the dog is beginning to stray, just tug on the leash and their entire body gets pulled in the right direction, not just the throat. Well, are you going to be a cruel, harsh dog owner and continue to pull your dog around by the throat, or are you going to be a kind, caring master and lead your friend around with a hug? I like using the hug.
