Just a few dog names to kick around
Top 20 male and female dog names
To some pet owners, dog names are very important. While to others they are simply a word your pet responds to. The fact is, your dog does not know the difference, but you are likely to have your pet for years, so it is somewhat important what you name your dog. After all, three years from now, do you want to still be calling your dog Bennifer?
Some people insist on naming your dog after some obscure character in a book or a mythological creature or character such as Cerebus. While this makes for a great name, you will find yourself growing weary of constantly explaining the intellectual meaning behind your dog's name to convince them it was a good idea, when the truth is, they will never get over the fact that whatever the name is, it is still a dog.
A number of dog owners like to keep it simple. For instance, if your dog is small, call him "Mr. Big," or if the dog is fat, name him "Skinny." I have even known someone who named their dog "Dog."
That being said, do not be afraid to use an old stand-by. Naming your pet should not be a source of stress on your life. So, go ahead and call your dog Spot, Rover, Scruffy, or Sniffles since all of these have proven themselves time and time again.
