The Greyhound, the cheetah of the canine kingdom
The Greyhound is a sporting dog known as a sight hound; that is, a hunting dog that tracks game by sight rather than scent, and are the oldest type of pure-bred dog. This dog has been featured in anciant art over 6,000 years old. It has been the preferred breed of nobility more than any other.
This breed is by far the most athletic. It holds the record as fastest dog, traveling as fast as 40 MPH. It also has the longest jump under its belt by having leapt 30 FT in a single bound. This dog is also the most expensive breed; champion racing dogs have sold for more than $70,000. On a side note, these dogs have been known to father over 3,000 pups in a lifetime. I suppose you could also say, it is the rabbit of the canine kingdom.
These dogs make excellent pets, because they are one of the most gentle, obedient, affectionate, and relaxed of the breeds. Since most racing dogs are slaughtered after retirement, adopting one would be a more humane alternative. Most retired racing dogs have 10 more healthy years ahead of them. The only problem is, they tend to chase any small hairy animal that runs from them, by instinct.
